Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to determine client needs and formulate appropriate diagnoses (where applicable and within scope of practice).
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, humanistic approaches).
- Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship issues, stress management, and other mental health concerns.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely client records in accordance with professional and ethical guidelines, and data protection regulations (GDPR).
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, family members, or community resources as needed, to ensure holistic client care, with appropriate consent.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision and team meetings to discuss caseloads, review treatment strategies, and engage in continuous professional development.
- Facilitate psychoeducational groups or workshops on mental health topics, if opportunities arise.
- Adhere to all professional codes of conduct and ethical standards set by relevant professional bodies (e.g., BACP, UKCP).
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field.
- Accreditation or registration with a recognized professional body in the UK (e.g., BACP, UKCP, NCS).
- Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification clinical experience in mental health counseling.
- Demonstrated proficiency in various therapeutic modalities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong empathy, active listening, and rapport-building abilities.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively and independently.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate and confidential client records.
- Right to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a community mental health setting or private practice.
- Specialization or advanced training in specific areas such as trauma therapy, addiction counseling, or child/adolescent mental health.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
