Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive property valuations for residential and commercial properties.
  • Perform thorough property inspections, documenting conditions and identifying key value drivers.
  • Execute in-depth market research, including comparable sales analysis, rental data, and economic trends.
  • Prepare detailed, accurate, and defensible valuation reports in compliance with RICS Red Book standards.
  • Communicate valuation findings and methodologies clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage client relationships, addressing queries and providing expert advice on property valuation matters.
  • Stay abreast of local property market trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and administrative staff to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Adhere strictly to professional ethics, confidentiality, and company policies.

Required Skills

  • RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) qualification or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a property appraiser/valuer.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Edinburgh and wider Scottish property market.
  • Proficiency in valuation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for property visits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a diverse portfolio of property types (e.g., development land, specialised assets).
  • Post-graduate degree in Real Estate, Property Valuation, or a related field.
  • Membership in other relevant professional bodies.
  • Familiarity with environmental and sustainability factors impacting property values.
