Key Responsibilities
- Assist Registered Nurses in developing and implementing patient care plans.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments under direct supervision, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Monitor, record, and report changes in patient condition, including vital signs, symptoms, and behaviours.
- Perform basic nursing procedures such as wound care, catheter care, and specimen collection.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient documentation and records.
- Educate patients and their families on health maintenance and disease prevention, as instructed by the RN.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organised patient environment.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and ethical standards of nursing practice.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Required Skills
- Valid and current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Scotland (or equivalent, e.g., NMC registration for Nursing Associate, if applicable and transferable).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong observational and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for documentation.
- Demonstrated compassion and empathy towards patients.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., as a healthcare assistant, volunteer).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
