Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and Certified Payroll Manager to join our finance team in Agincourt, Toronto. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the payroll function for a diverse employee base, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all relevant Canadian federal and provincial regulations.
- Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll, including salaries, wages, benefits, deductions, bonuses, and special payments.
- Ensure accurate calculation and remittance of payroll taxes (EI, CPP, EHT, WSIB) and other statutory deductions.
- Prepare and submit year-end payroll documents, including T4s, T4As, and Relevé 1s, accurately and on schedule.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and general ledger entries, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls and best practices to safeguard payroll integrity.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries from employees and external agencies.
- Stay current with changes in payroll legislation, tax laws, and industry best practices to ensure continuous compliance.
- Manage and optimize payroll software systems (e.g., ADP, Ceridian) and recommend improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll data and processes.
- Generate comprehensive payroll reports for management review, audit purposes, and strategic planning.
- Lead and mentor any junior payroll staff or administrators, fostering a culture of accuracy and continuous learning.
Required Skills
- Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation from the National Payroll Institute (formerly CPA)
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in managing full-cycle payroll for a Canadian organization
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial payroll legislation (e.g., ESA, CRA regulations)
- Proficiency with major payroll software systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, UKG Pro)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles related to payroll and general ledger reconciliation
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employees and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field
- Experience with HRIS integration and reporting tools
- Proven ability to manage payroll for multiple provinces and complex benefit structures
- Experience in a fast-paced or high-growth organizational environment
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
