In this crucial role, you will be the cornerstone of our radiator service department, responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide array of cooling systems across various vehicle types, including passenger cars, commercial trucks, and heavy-duty equipment. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics on various cooling systems to identify issues such as leaks, blockages, and inefficiencies.
  • Execute precise repairs on radiators, condensers, intercoolers, oil coolers, and other heat exchange components.
  • Conduct welding, soldering, and brazing as required for metal tank and core repairs, ensuring structural integrity.
  • Replace radiator cores, tanks, and hoses, adhering strictly to manufacturer specifications and safety protocols.
  • Thoroughly test repaired units under pressure to guarantee leak-free operation and optimal thermal performance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Document all repair work, parts used, and diagnostic findings accurately and completely.
  • Provide expert advice and communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding repair needs and solutions.
  • Stay current with industry advancements, new repair techniques, and material technologies.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment for all.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in radiator repair and cooling system diagnostics.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in welding (TIG/MIG), soldering, and brazing techniques for various metals.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive and heavy equipment cooling systems and their components.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and diagnostic abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Valid Ontario G class driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Red Seal certification as a Truck & Coach Technician, Automotive Service Technician, or equivalent.
  • Experience with specialized radiator repair equipment and machinery.
  • Familiarity with various types of radiators, including copper/brass, aluminum, and plastic/aluminum combinations.
  • Previous experience in a lead technician or mentorship role.
  • Certification in specific welding or brazing techniques.
