Key Responsibilities
- Perform various welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, on diverse materials such as mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Fabricate complex metal structures and components by cutting, grinding, shaping, and assembling using various tools and machinery.
- Interpret and work from engineering blueprints, sketches, and schematics to determine project specifications and material requirements.
- Inspect finished products for quality assurance, ensuring compliance with design specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Operate and maintain fabrication machinery, including press brakes, shears, saws, and grinders, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
- Conduct routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure project timelines and goals are met.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of proven experience as a Welder Fabricator in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Strong knowledge of various metal properties and appropriate welding techniques for different materials.
- Proficiency in operating fabrication equipment (e.g., press brake, shear, saw, grinder).
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Solid understanding of shop safety practices and procedures.
- CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) certification in multiple positions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education or trade certification in Welding, Fabrication, or a related field.
- Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts (certification preferred).
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to mentor junior welders or apprentices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
