Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking dedicated and energetic individuals to join our team as a Recycling Plant Worker – Sorter in our state-of-the-art facility near the vibrant Church and Wellesley area of Toronto. This vital role is at the heart of our operations, directly contributing to our mission of creating a more sustainable future by diverting waste from landfills.
As a Recycling Plant Worker – Sorter, you will play a crucial part in the initial stages of the recycling process, meticulously sorting various materials on a conveyor belt. This hands-on position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for identifying and separating different types of recyclables, ensuring that only high-quality materials proceed to the next stage of processing.

While previous experience in a similar industrial or manufacturing setting is an asset, it is not strictly required. Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently sort and separate various recyclable materials (e.g., plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, metals) from a conveyor belt.
- Identify and remove non-recyclable contaminants to ensure material quality.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.
- Operate basic plant equipment as required, following training and safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding material flow and operational issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall plant operations and efficiency.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to differentiate between various materials.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) frequently.
- Dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and diverse environment.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles.
- Reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a recycling facility, warehouse, or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with different types of recyclable materials.
- Forklift certification (an asset, but not required for sorter role).
