Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Agronomist to join our dynamic team in Grange Park, Toronto. This pivotal role involves providing expert advice and support to agricultural clients, optimizing crop production, and promoting sustainable farming practices across various operations. As an Agronomist with our company, you will be instrumental in conducting field assessments, diagnosing crop issues, and developing tailored solutions that enhance yield, improve soil health, and ensure environmental stewardship. You will work closely with farmers and agricultural stakeholders, building strong relationships and acting as a trusted advisor on all aspects of crop management, pest control, nutrient management, and irrigation strategies. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive field visits and assessments to monitor crop health, identify issues, and evaluate soil conditions.
  • Develop and implement customized crop management plans, including nutrient management, pest and disease control, and irrigation strategies.
  • Provide expert consultation and technical support to farmers on best agricultural practices, new technologies, and sustainable farming methods.
  • Analyze soil, plant tissue, and water samples to diagnose deficiencies or excesses and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research, trends, and advancements in agronomy, crop science, and agricultural technology.
  • Assist clients with record-keeping and compliance with environmental regulations and agricultural standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver integrated solutions and enhance client success.
  • Conduct educational workshops and training sessions for farmers on various agronomic topics.
  • Prepare detailed reports on field observations, recommendations, and outcomes for clients and management.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related agricultural field.
  • 3-5 years of direct experience as an Agronomist or in a related agricultural advisory role.
  • Profound knowledge of crop physiology, soil science, nutrient management, and pest management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client relation skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently to client sites.
  • Proficiency in agricultural software and data analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy or a related field.
  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) designation or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience with precision agriculture technologies (GPS, remote sensing, variable rate applications).
  • Familiarity with local Ontario agricultural practices and regulations.
