Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced roofers in various roofing tasks, including tear-offs, repairs, and new installations.
- Learn and apply proper safety procedures and equipment usage on all job sites.
- Handle and transport materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Prepare work areas by setting up ladders, scaffolding, and protective barriers.
- Perform basic measurements and cuts of roofing materials under supervision.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools are accounted for.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and experienced team members diligently.
- Participate in daily safety briefings and contribute to a safe working culture.
- Support the team by performing general labour tasks as needed to keep projects on schedule.
Required Skills
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn a skilled trade.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Basic understanding of construction site safety and willingness to adhere to all protocols.
- Reliable transportation to various job sites in the Toronto area.
- Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and work comfortably at heights.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a positive attitude.
- Punctuality and reliability are essential for site schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a construction-related field (even general labour or volunteering).
- Valid G driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools common in construction.
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
- WHMIS and Working at Heights certifications (or willingness to obtain them quickly).
