As a Construction Helper with no experience, you will be a vital part of our on-site team, supporting skilled tradespersons and contributing to various aspects of construction work. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled tradespersons (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.) with various tasks on the construction site.
  • Perform general labour duties including site clean-up, debris removal, and maintaining an organized work area.
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Operate hand and power tools under supervision, adhering to all safety guidelines.
  • Prepare work areas by setting up and dismantling scaffolding, temporary barriers, and safety signage.
  • Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and level earth using hand tools and shovels.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Support with basic demolition tasks as directed.
  • Learn and apply construction techniques and best practices through on-the-job training.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks consistently.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Eagerness and willingness to learn new skills and follow instructions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Basic understanding of English for communication and safety instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid WHMIS certification.
  • Working at Heights certification.
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and materials (e.g., measuring tape, hammer, shovel).
  • Previous experience in a manual labour role (not necessarily construction).
