Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Framing Carpenter to join our rapidly expanding team in West Don Lands, Toronto. We are looking for an individual who is ready for an immediate start, bringing a strong work ethic and a commitment to quality craftsmanship. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in constructing the structural framework of buildings, transforming blueprints into tangible realities across various residential and commercial projects. This position demands a meticulous eye for detail, a deep understanding of building codes and safety regulations, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cohesive crew.

As a Framing Carpenter with Hiring.zycto, you will contribute directly to projects that shape Toronto’s evolving urban landscape. You will be responsible for interpreting complex construction drawings, precisely measuring and cutting lumber, and expertly assembling walls, floors, and roof systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and dimensions.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood materials, laminates, and other construction materials.
  • Construct, erect, install, and repair framework for buildings, including walls, floors, roofs, and door/window frames.
  • Install subflooring, wall sheathing, and roof decking.
  • Verify trueness of structures using plumb bob and level.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently (e.g., saws, drills, nail guns).
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies on job sites.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other trades.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform other carpentry-related duties as required.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a Framing Carpenter.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Expertise in various framing techniques and methods.
  • Strong mathematical skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to safely and competently operate a wide range of hand and power tools.
  • Excellent physical stamina, dexterity, and strength to handle heavy materials.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Carpenter certification (Red Seal endorsement an asset).
  • Working at Heights certification.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid G driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience with different framing materials and construction styles.
