Key Responsibilities
- Perform skilled tree climbing and aerial lift operations for pruning, removals, and other tree care tasks.
- Execute proper tree pruning techniques in accordance with ISA standards to improve tree health, structure, and aesthetics.
- Safely and efficiently conduct tree removals, including dismantling large trees in confined spaces.
- Identify and diagnose tree diseases, insect infestations, and structural weaknesses, recommending appropriate treatment plans.
- Operate and maintain a variety of arborist equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and rigging gear.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring a safe work environment for the crew and public.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for tree work sites, identifying potential hazards and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Participate in emergency call-out services for storm damage and hazardous tree situations.
- Provide clear communication with clients and team members regarding project status, recommendations, and safety considerations.
- Assist with tree planting, aftercare, and other landscape maintenance duties as required.
Required Skills
- ISA Certified Arborist designation or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience in arboriculture, including climbing and rigging.
- Proficiency in advanced tree climbing techniques with rope and saddle.
- Expertise in operating and maintaining chainsaws, chippers, and other relevant equipment.
- Strong knowledge of tree biology, pruning standards (ANSI A300), and safety protocols (ANSI Z133).
- Ability to identify common tree species, pests, and diseases prevalent in the Toronto area.
- Valid G Class Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, or a related field.
- Additional certifications such as Aerial Lift Operator, Chainsaw Safety, or first aid/CPR.
- Experience with plant health care applications and integrated pest management (IPM).
- Commercial Driver's License (DZ or AZ).
- Track record of excellent client communication and customer service skills.
