Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Assistant to join our growing finance team in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Key Responsibilities

  • Process a high volume of invoices accurately and efficiently, matching them to purchase orders and receiving reports.
  • Verify proper authorization for payments and ensure all supporting documentation is complete.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
  • Prepare and process weekly payment runs (cheques, EFTs, wire transfers).
  • Maintain accurate vendor files and payment records.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and internal departments to resolve invoice and payment inquiries.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures, including accruals and journal entries related to accounts payable.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounts payable processes and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an Accounts Payable role or related accounting function.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and accounts payable processes.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with electronic invoicing systems.
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations (GST/HST).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
