Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are accounted for.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries and accruals.
  • Prepare and maintain financial records, reports, and documentation with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Manage expense reports and ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Support the finance team with budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.
  • Respond to financial queries from internal and external stakeholders efficiently and professionally.
  • Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory filings.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the finance department.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information and exercise discretion in all tasks.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in an accounting or finance support role (minimum 3 years).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and proactive approach to work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAT qualification or actively working towards it (or equivalent).
  • Experience with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Familiarity with UK tax regulations (VAT, corporation tax).
  • Experience in a fast-paced or rapidly growing business environment.
