Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, configure, and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance.
- Ensure high levels of database availability, reliability, and security, implementing robust backup and recovery strategies.
- Perform routine database performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries, database schema designs, and application performance.
- Implement and maintain database security (encryption, access control, etc.) and data integrity.
- Troubleshoot database-related issues promptly and effectively, providing root cause analysis and solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database infrastructure, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical database support as needed.
- Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and tools to improve efficiency and system capabilities.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA)
- Proficiency in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle database administration.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, relational database theory, and data modeling.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Solid knowledge of database security best practices and disaster recovery planning.
- Familiarity with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Database – Specialty).
