Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mechanical Engineer with a strong focus on Plant Operations and Equipment Repair to join our robust team in South Queensferry, Edinburgh. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical equipment failures across plant operations.
- Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability and longevity.
- Supervise maintenance technicians and external contractors, ensuring adherence to safety standards and quality workmanship.
- Conduct detailed root cause analysis for equipment breakdowns and propose effective corrective and preventative measures.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes to support maintenance activities.
- Review and optimize existing maintenance procedures, contributing to the development of new strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Participate in capital projects, offering mechanical engineering expertise from design to commissioning.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and generate reports on equipment performance and availability.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering within an industrial plant or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for complex mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Knowledge of various maintenance techniques (e.g., TPM, RCM, condition monitoring).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration and contractor supervision.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in an industrial setting.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Experience with specific plant machinery relevant to our operations (e.g., pumps, compressors, turbines, conveying systems).
- Lean Six Sigma certification or experience in continuous improvement methodologies.
- Project management experience in an industrial context.
- Proficiency in CAD software for design review and modifications.
