Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespersons (e.g., equipment operators, pipe layers, carpenters) with various tasks on construction sites.
- Perform general labor duties including digging trenches, shoveling, raking, and spreading materials such as asphalt, gravel, and sand.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision (e.g., jackhammers, tampers, saws, drills).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including clearing debris and waste.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Erect and dismantle temporary structures, scaffolding, or other necessary site supports.
- Flag traffic and direct vehicles or pedestrians as required to ensure site safety.
- Support site preparation, including setting up and tearing down temporary fencing, signage, and barriers.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion and team objectives.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods, bending, and kneeling.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of English for safety instructions and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 New Brunswick Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- Basic knowledge of construction site safety practices.
- Completion of a high school diploma or GED.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) certification or equivalent.
