Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled tradespersons (e.g., equipment operators, pipe layers, carpenters) with various tasks on construction sites.
  • Perform general labor duties including digging trenches, shoveling, raking, and spreading materials such as asphalt, gravel, and sand.
  • Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision (e.g., jackhammers, tampers, saws, drills).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including clearing debris and waste.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Erect and dismantle temporary structures, scaffolding, or other necessary site supports.
  • Flag traffic and direct vehicles or pedestrians as required to ensure site safety.
  • Support site preparation, including setting up and tearing down temporary fencing, signage, and barriers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion and team objectives.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods, bending, and kneeling.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of English for safety instructions and communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Class 5 New Brunswick Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Basic knowledge of construction site safety practices.
  • Completion of a high school diploma or GED.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) certification or equivalent.
