Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on plant machinery and equipment, adhering to established schedules and procedures.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to identify root causes of malfunctions.
- Execute timely and effective repairs, including replacing defective parts, adjusting components, and performing system recalibrations.
- Respond promptly to breakdown calls, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure all repair work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Collaborate with production personnel to understand equipment performance issues and implement effective solutions.
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of new plant machinery and equipment.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in maintenance practices and equipment reliability.
- Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to guide repair and maintenance tasks.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician in an industrial or manufacturing plant environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems (e.g., motors, control panels, sensors).
- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Adherence to health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with PLC fault finding and basic programming.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- FLT (Forklift Truck) license and/or other relevant plant operation certifications.
