Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Long Term Care Cook to join our vibrant team in Belfast. As our Long Term Care Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of delicious, well-balanced meals, ensuring they cater to diverse dietary needs including pureed, diabetic, low-sodium, and allergen-specific options. You will work closely with our care team to understand individual resident preferences and health requirements, bringing a touch of home-cooked comfort to every plate. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook high-quality, nutritious meals for residents, adhering to planned menus and dietary requirements.
  • Ensure all food preparation and cooking areas are maintained to the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and control food costs while minimizing waste.
  • Adapt menus and recipes to accommodate individual resident dietary needs, allergies, and preferences.
  • Collaborate with the care team to understand resident health conditions and nutritional needs.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety regulations, including HACCP principles.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful dining experience for all residents.
  • Assist with menu planning, considering seasonality, resident feedback, and nutritional balance.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Cook, preferably in a long-term care, hospital, or similar institutional setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene practices (HACCP certified preferred).
  • Ability to prepare meals for various dietary restrictions (e.g., diabetic, pureed, gluten-free, low-sodium).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage kitchen operations efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A genuine passion for food preparation and providing high-quality culinary experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent.
  • Experience with stock management and ordering systems.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Understanding of the nutritional needs of the elderly.
