Key Responsibilities

  • Assist genetic counselors with patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories and family pedigrees.
  • Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, ensuring timely and efficient workflow.
  • Manage and organize patient files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Facilitate communication between patients, genetic counselors, and other healthcare providers.
  • Prepare educational materials and resources for patients as directed by genetic counselors.
  • Assist with tracking genetic testing orders, results, and follow-up actions.
  • Provide administrative support, including data entry, report generation, and managing correspondence.
  • Research and compile information on genetic conditions, testing options, and support groups.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in team meetings and continuous learning opportunities to enhance knowledge of genetics and counseling practices.
