Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly compassionate and dedicated Certified Addiction Counselor to join our dynamic team in Humber Bay, Toronto. This is an exceptional opportunity for a professional who is deeply committed to empowering individuals on their journey to recovery and fostering lasting positive change. As a Certified Addiction Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in providing essential support, guidance, and therapeutic interventions to clients grappling with substance use disorders, often complicated by co-occurring mental health conditions.

In this vital position, you will be responsible for conducting thorough biopsychosocial assessments to understand each client’s unique circumstances, challenges, and strengths. Based on these assessments, you will collaboratively develop and implement individualized treatment plans, setting realistic and measurable goals. Your daily work will involve facilitating both individual and group counseling sessions, utilizing a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed care practices. We believe in a holistic approach, recognizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in the recovery process.

Beyond direct counseling, you will monitor client progress diligently, adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes. A crucial aspect of this role involves providing timely crisis intervention and support, connecting clients to appropriate emergency services when necessary, and acting as a steadfast advocate for their well-being. Education is also key; you will empower clients and their families by providing comprehensive information about addiction as a disease, principles of recovery, effective relapse prevention strategies, and the development of healthy coping mechanisms.

You will thrive within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment, working closely with psychiatrists, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals. This interdisciplinary approach ensures that our clients receive comprehensive, integrated care tailored to their complex needs. We are looking for an individual who embodies empathy, resilience, excellent communication skills, and an unwavering commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality. If you are passionate about making a tangible impact, fostering healing, and building a supportive community for those in recovery, we encourage you to apply and contribute your expertise to a team that truly values transformative work.

  • Monitor client progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and document all interactions accurately and promptly.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support as necessary, linking clients to appropriate emergency and community services.
  • Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery principles, relapse prevention strategies, and healthy coping mechanisms.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure holistic client care.

  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to client care.
  • Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
