Key Responsibilities
- Conduct extensive field research in remote Arctic regions under challenging conditions.
- Collect and process environmental samples including ice cores, water, sediment, and biological specimens.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain specialized scientific equipment, sensors, and potentially autonomous vehicles (AUVs/UAVs).
- Perform preliminary data analysis and contribute to comprehensive scientific reports and publications.
- Maintain detailed and accurate field logs, experimental records, and data archives.
- Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and ethical guidelines for polar research.
- Collaborate effectively with a small team of researchers and support staff during expeditions.
- Contribute to the dissemination of research findings through presentations and scientific articles.
- Assist with the preparation and packing of expedition gear and supplies.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Oceanography, Glaciology, Geology, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of proven field research experience, ideally in polar or cold climate environments.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting specialized scientific instrumentation for environmental monitoring.
- Strong data analysis skills, including statistical software (e.g., R, Python) and data visualization tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in isolated and harsh conditions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for scientific reporting and collaboration.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification; Wilderness First Responder preferred.
- Physical fitness and resilience to withstand extreme weather and demanding fieldwork.
