Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and skilled Bus Mechanic – Fleet to join our dynamic team in Toronto. This pivotal role is essential to maintaining the safety, reliability, and operational efficiency of our extensive fleet of urban transit buses. As a Bus Mechanic, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our vehicles meet the highest standards of performance and safety, directly contributing to the seamless daily commute for thousands of passengers across the city. You will be instrumental in executing both preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, ensuring our fleet remains in peak condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, and safety checks on a diverse fleet of transit buses.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using advanced diagnostic equipment and tools.
  • Conduct comprehensive repairs and overhauls of engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering components, and suspension systems.
  • Execute welding, fabrication, and other general repair tasks as required to maintain vehicle structural integrity.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and labour hours.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure efficient fleet operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Bus Mechanic, ideally within a fleet environment.
  • Red Seal Endorsement (310T or equivalent Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification).
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across various heavy-duty vehicle systems.
  • Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools and software.
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems specific to buses.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's license (Class B or C is a strong asset).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with alternative fuel systems (e.g., electric, hybrid, CNG buses).
  • Familiarity with fleet management software and work order systems.
  • Completion of a recognized heavy-duty mechanic apprenticeship program.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
