Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of cosmetology services including hair styling, cutting, colouring, skin care treatments, make-up application, nail services (manicures, pedicures), and waxing.
- Consult with clients to assess their needs, provide expert recommendations, and explain treatment procedures and expected outcomes.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organised workstation, adhering strictly to health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Stay updated with current beauty trends, products, and techniques through continuous learning and professional development.
- Manage appointment schedules efficiently and maintain accurate client records, ensuring client privacy and data protection.
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring client satisfaction and fostering long-term relationships through personalised care.
- Promote and sell salon-quality products and services relevant to clients' individual needs and preferences.
- Handle client inquiries and concerns professionally and effectively, resolving issues with empathy and discretion.
- Collaborate effectively with other beauty professionals and support staff to ensure a harmonious and productive work environment.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Beauty Therapy or Hairdressing (or equivalent UK recognised qualification)
- Proven experience (minimum 1.5 years) in various cosmetology treatments (hair, skin, nails, make-up)
- Excellent knowledge of skin types, hair types, anatomy, physiology, and beauty product ingredients.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse clients.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused with a friendly, professional, and empathetic demeanour.
- Meticulous attention to detail and exceptionally high standards of hygiene and sanitation.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced certifications in specific beauty specialities (e.g., advanced aesthetics, complex hair colouring techniques, bridal make-up).
- Experience with a diverse client base and proven ability to adapt services to different cultural or personal preferences.
- A professional portfolio showcasing previous work (e.g., make-up artistry, hair transformations, nail art).
- Basic knowledge of business management or client management software for scheduling and record-keeping.
- First Aid certification and knowledge of emergency procedures relevant to a salon environment.
