Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of individuals, conveyances, and goods entering or exiting Canada.
- Enforce Canadian customs, immigration, and trade legislation, including the Customs Act and Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Assess and collect duties, taxes, and other levies on imported goods.
- Identify, interdict, and seize prohibited or restricted goods, including narcotics, weapons, and illicit substances.
- Interview travelers and importers to determine admissibility and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Utilize intelligence and risk assessment tools to target high-risk individuals or shipments.
- Prepare detailed reports, documentation, and evidence for administrative or judicial proceedings.
- Maintain professionalism and composure in potentially confrontational or high-stress situations.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment for inspection and detection.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and government departments as required.
