Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough oral health assessments, including patient history, visual examinations, and radiographic interpretations.
- Provide comprehensive prophylactic treatments, including scaling, root planing, and polishing.
- Administer local anesthesia as required and within scope of practice.
- Apply fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventative agents.
- Perform basic restorative procedures such as fillings and temporary restorations, as permitted by licensure and clinic protocols.
- Educate patients of all ages on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary advice, and preventative care strategies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans and clinical notes.
- Collaborate effectively with dentists, dental hygienists, and other dental professionals to optimize patient care.
- Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control guidelines.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with best practices and advancements in dental therapy.
- Assist with scheduling and patient recall systems to ensure continuity of care.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Dental Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Current registration and in good standing with the appropriate regulatory body in British Columbia.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Dental Therapist.
- Proficiency in performing comprehensive oral health assessments and preventative treatments.
- Demonstrated ability to administer local anesthesia.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in record-keeping.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with dental software and digital radiography.
Preferred Qualifications
