Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior filmmakers with research, pre-production planning, and logistical coordination for documentary projects.
  • Operate and maintain basic camera and audio equipment during field shoots and studio sessions.
  • Support the post-production team by organizing footage, creating rough cuts, and assisting with editing tasks.
  • Conduct interviews, gather B-roll footage, and capture ambient sounds as directed.
  • Contribute to script development, storyboard creation, and shot list preparation.
  • Manage and archive digital assets, ensuring proper categorization and accessibility.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions, offering fresh perspectives and creative ideas for new projects.
  • Adhere to project timelines and deliverables, ensuring high-quality output.
  • Learn and apply best practices in ethical filmmaking and data privacy.
  • Travel to various locations, sometimes in remote areas, as required for production.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of filmmaking principles and documentary genres.
  • Familiarity with digital camera operation and basic audio recording techniques.
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve) or eagerness to learn.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated passion for storytelling and non-fiction content.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.
  • A portfolio demonstrating relevant projects (even student or personal work).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Film Production, Media Arts, Journalism, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of color grading and sound design principles.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
  • Experience with drone operation or specialized camera equipment.
  • Fluency in additional languages relevant to potential story subjects.
