Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our vibrant People Operations team in Cross Gates, Leeds. As our Employee Relations Specialist, you will be the trusted expert and primary point of contact for all employee relations matters. Your day will involve navigating complex workplace issues, from advising on disciplinary and grievance procedures to mediating conflicts and ensuring compliance with the latest UK employment legislation. You will play a crucial role in shaping our internal policies, ensuring they are not only legally sound but also reflect our commitment to fairness and respect. We’re looking for someone who can proactively identify potential issues, implement preventative strategies, and respond effectively to challenges with professionalism and empathy.

Beyond reactive case management, this role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to our proactive HR initiatives. You will develop and deliver training programs for managers and employees, enhancing their understanding of HR policies, best practices, and the importance of a positive workplace culture. You’ll collaborate closely with HR Business Partners, Legal Counsel, and various levels of management, providing expert guidance and support on a wide array of people-related challenges. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on a full range of employee relations issues, including disciplinary, grievance, performance management, absence management, and capability concerns.
  • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into complex workplace complaints, ensuring fair processes and appropriate outcomes.
  • Mediate disputes and facilitate constructive resolutions between employees and management.
  • Ensure all employee relations practices comply with UK employment law, company policies, and best practices.
  • Develop, update, and implement HR policies and procedures related to employee relations.
  • Design and deliver training sessions for managers and employees on ER topics, promoting a consistent and legally compliant approach.
  • Manage and maintain accurate, confidential records of all employee relations cases and activities.
  • Support organisational change initiatives, including redundancy and restructuring processes, ensuring legal compliance and employee support.
  • Analyse ER data and trends to identify systemic issues and recommend proactive solutions.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Legal, and other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to people management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Employee Relations Specialist or HR Generalist with a strong ER focus (minimum 4 years).
  • In-depth knowledge of UK employment law, ACAS codes of practice, and best practices in employee relations.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct objective and thorough investigations into complex employee matters.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • High level of discretion, confidentiality, and professional integrity.
  • Proficiency in HR Information Systems (HRIS) and case management tools.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a diverse caseload effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 5 (Associate Diploma in People Management) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced or multi-site organisational environment.
  • Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) principles as they relate to employee relations.
  • Experience in delivering engaging training programs.
