Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive digital forensic investigations across various platforms, including Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile devices.
  • Perform data acquisition, preservation, and analysis following established chain-of-custody procedures and forensic best practices.
  • Analyze artifacts from operating systems, applications, network logs, memory dumps, and other digital sources to identify malicious activity, data exfiltration, and unauthorized access.
  • Develop detailed forensic reports and technical documentation, clearly articulating findings, methodologies, and recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide expert testimony or support in legal and regulatory proceedings, explaining complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborate with incident response teams to contain, eradicate, and recover from security incidents, offering forensic insights to guide mitigation efforts.
  • Stay current with the latest digital forensic tools, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) used by threat actors and forensic practitioners.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in digital forensics or incident response.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard forensic tools such as EnCase, FTK, X-Ways Forensics, Magnet AXIOM, or Autopsy.
  • Strong understanding of operating system internals (Windows, macOS, Linux), file systems, and network protocols.
  • Experience with memory forensics tools (e.g., Volatility Framework) and log analysis platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to script or automate tasks using Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information effectively.
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adherence to ethical guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, or a related field.
  • Industry certifications such as GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA), GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner (GCFE), or CISSP.
  • Experience with cloud forensics (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerized environments.
  • Previous experience working in a professional services or consulting environment.
  • Familiarity with various regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, PIPEDA, HIPAA).
