Key Responsibilities
- Perform general crop maintenance tasks, including planting, transplanting, pruning, thinning, and trellising, according to specific crop requirements.
- Monitor plant health meticulously for any signs of pests, diseases, or nutritional deficiencies, reporting observations promptly to supervisors.
- Assist with precise irrigation and fertilization processes, ensuring plants receive adequate water and nutrients at optimal times.
- Participate diligently in the harvesting, sorting, and careful packaging of produce, strictly adhering to established quality control standards and food safety protocols.
- Operate and maintain basic greenhouse equipment and hand tools safely and efficiently, performing routine checks and cleaning.
- Clean and sanitize work areas, growing trays, benches, and all equipment regularly to prevent the spread of pathogens and maintain a sterile environment.
- Follow all company safety protocols and operational policies diligently to ensure a safe and productive work environment for yourself and your team.
- Contribute proactively to a positive and collaborative team atmosphere, assisting colleagues as needed to achieve daily production goals.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including repetitive lifting (up to 25 lbs), bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and consistently.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong work ethic with a proactive attitude.
- Basic understanding of plant care principles or a keen willingness to learn quickly and adapt to new techniques.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
- Comfortable working in a warm, humid, and sometimes dusty greenhouse environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (minimum 6 months) working in a greenhouse, nursery, agricultural setting, or similar production environment.
- Knowledge of basic horticultural practices, pest identification, and plant nutrition.
- Experience operating hand tools and small machinery relevant to greenhouse operations.
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
