Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual harvesting of various crops, including fruits, vegetables, and herbs, following specific quality and handling guidelines.
- Sort, clean, and pack harvested produce carefully to prevent damage and ensure freshness for distribution.
- Operate basic farm equipment and tools safely, under supervision, for tasks such as planting, weeding, and irrigation.
- Assist with field preparation, including mulching, weeding, and general upkeep of growing areas.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety and sanitation protocols to maintain the highest standards of produce quality and workplace hygiene.
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet daily harvesting targets and ensure efficient operations.
- Transport harvested produce from fields to storage or packing areas, ensuring proper handling and documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including tidying up tools, equipment, and shared spaces.
- Monitor crop health and report any signs of pests, diseases, or other issues to supervisors promptly.
- Be available for varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as dictated by harvest schedules and weather conditions.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality in handling produce.
- Excellent reliability and punctuality, understanding the time-sensitive nature of harvest work.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively within a team.
- Basic communication skills to interact with colleagues and supervisors.
- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in farming, horticulture, or a similar agricultural environment.
