Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty log trucks safely and efficiently on public roads and private logging routes.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Properly load and unload logs using onboard or external loading equipment, ensuring securement and compliance with weight distribution laws.
- Adhere strictly to all provincial and federal transportation regulations, including hours of service and logbook requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery details.
- Perform minor roadside repairs and routine maintenance checks.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, logging crews, and mill personnel.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, prioritizing personal and public safety.
- Adapt to changing weather conditions and challenging road environments.
Required Skills
- Valid Class AZ or Class 1 Commercial Driver's License (or willingness to obtain with support)
- Clean driving record (abstract will be required)
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to regulations
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks associated with log truck operations (e.g., tarping, chaining)
- Basic mechanical aptitude for vehicle inspections and minor maintenance
