Job Description
Hiring.zycto invites a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Pathologist to join our esteemed diagnostic team in Ledbury Park, Toronto. As a Pathologist, you will be instrumental in interpreting complex tissue and fluid samples, providing critical insights that guide clinical decisions and ultimately impact patient outcomes across a broad spectrum of medical specialties. You will manage a diverse caseload, including surgical pathology, cytopathology, and potentially molecular pathology, depending on your subspecialty expertise. This involves macroscopic examination (grossing), microscopic evaluation, and the judicious application and interpretation of advanced diagnostic techniques such as immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and molecular assays. Your analytical prowess and attention to detail will be paramount in ensuring accurate and comprehensive reports. Beyond the bench, you will actively participate in various clinical conferences and multidisciplinary rounds, engaging with surgeons, oncologists, internists, and other healthcare professionals to discuss complex cases and contribute your expert pathological perspective to treatment planning.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform macroscopic and microscopic examination of surgical resections, biopsies, and cytology specimens.
- Accurately diagnose and report pathological findings for a diverse range of medical conditions.
- Interpret complex immunohistochemical stains, special stains, and molecular pathology results.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and clinical conferences, offering expert pathological consultation.
- Collaborate effectively with clinical teams to ensure optimal patient management and care pathways.
- Contribute to quality assurance and quality control programs within the laboratory.
- Engage in continuous professional development and stay abreast of advancements in pathology.
- Potentially participate in research activities, teaching, or mentoring of residents/fellows.
- Maintain meticulous records and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or equivalent.
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) in Anatomic Pathology or General Pathology, or equivalent board certification.
- Current licensure and good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- Minimum of 5 years of post-residency experience in diagnostic pathology.
- Demonstrated expertise in surgical pathology and cytopathology.
- Excellent diagnostic acumen, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clinical teams.
- Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR).
Preferred Qualifications
- Subspecialty fellowship training (e.g., GI, GYN, Dermatopathology, Hematopathology).
- Experience with advanced molecular diagnostic techniques and interpretation.
- Active participation in research, publications, or presentations.
- Leadership experience or involvement in quality improvement initiatives.
- Teaching experience at undergraduate or postgraduate levels.
