Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Remote Payroll Specialist to join our growing team. As a Remote Payroll Specialist, you will play a critical role in our human resources and finance operations, managing all aspects of the payroll cycle for our diverse workforce across Canada. You will be responsible for processing payroll, ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations, administering benefits, and resolving any payroll-related inquiries.

Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for all Canadian employees accurately and on time, including salaries, wages, bonuses, commissions, and expense reimbursements.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial payroll regulations, including income tax, CPP, EI, WCB/WSIB, and other statutory deductions.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, pension, and group insurance deductions, ensuring proper enrolment and changes.
- Reconcile payroll GL accounts, prepare remittances, and complete year-end processing, including T4s, RL-1s, and other related government filings.
- Manage and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data in HRIS and payroll systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Prepare various payroll reports for management, finance, and HR departments.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation, employment standards, and best practices.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Canadian payroll processing.
- Demonstrated expertise in Canadian federal and provincial payroll legislation (e.g., Income Tax Act, Employment Standards Act).
- Proficiency with major payroll software (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, UKG).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
- High degree of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification from the National Payroll Institute (formerly CPA).
- Experience with multi-provincial payroll processing in Canada.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with HRIS system integration and reporting.
- Knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations is an asset.
