Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Petroleum Geologist to join our dynamic Energy division in Caulfeild, West Vancouver. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive geological studies, including seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and core descriptions.
  • Generate and evaluate exploration prospects, assessing geological risks and uncertainties associated with energy resources.
  • Build and maintain robust 2D/3D geological models to support reservoir characterization and simulation efforts.
  • Provide geological support during drilling operations, including well planning, real-time geosteering, and post-drilling evaluation.
  • Estimate hydrocarbon reserves and resources in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and petrophysicists to integrate multidisciplinary data sets.
  • Prepare detailed geological reports, compelling presentations, and strategic technical recommendations for internal stakeholders and management.
  • Stay abreast of new geological technologies, innovative methodologies, and evolving industry best practices to enhance project outcomes.
  • Contribute to field development plans, optimizing well placement and production strategies for maximum efficiency and resource recovery.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in petroleum geology within the energy sector.
  • Master's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard geological software platforms (e.g., Petrel, Geographix, OpenWorks).
  • Strong foundational understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and petrophysics.
  • Demonstrated experience in seismic interpretation, well log correlation, and advanced subsurface mapping techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with a meticulous data-driven approach.
  • Ability to integrate diverse geological, geophysical, and petrophysical datasets to construct comprehensive geological models and interpretations.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical reporting and engaging presentations to various audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Petroleum Geology or a related specialization, demonstrating advanced research capabilities.
  • Experience with unconventional resource plays, including shale gas or oil sands projects.
  • Familiarity with reservoir simulation software and advanced geological modeling workflows.
  • Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) designation in British Columbia or eligibility to register.
  • Project management experience in exploration or development initiatives, showcasing leadership potential and strategic foresight.
