Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and insightful Policy Analyst to join our passionate team in Cityview, Toronto. This pivotal role involves leading the research, analysis, and development of evidence-based policy recommendations that align with our mission to drive positive social impact within the non-profit sector. The successful candidate will be instrumental in identifying emerging trends, evaluating existing policies, and crafting compelling narratives to advocate for change. You will work on complex societal issues, translating intricate data into clear, actionable policy proposals that inform our strategic direction and influence stakeholders.

As a Policy Analyst, you will collaborate closely with various internal departments, external partners, and community organizations to ensure our policies are comprehensive, equitable, and effective. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on a range of social policy issues relevant to the non-profit sector.
  • Develop evidence-based policy briefs, reports, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor legislative developments, policy trends, and public discourse to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Evaluate the impact of existing policies and programs, recommending adjustments for improved effectiveness and equity.
  • Collaborate with advocacy teams to translate policy recommendations into actionable strategies and campaigns.
  • Prepare presentations and communications materials to effectively convey complex policy issues to diverse audiences.
  • Engage with external partners, government officials, and community groups to gather insights and build consensus.
  • Contribute to grant proposals and funding applications by providing policy context and rationale.
  • Represent Hiring.zycto at relevant forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proven experience in policy research, analysis, and development, preferably within the non-profit sector or public policy domain.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Ability to synthesize vast amounts of information and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Canadian social policy landscape, particularly within Ontario.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS).
  • Familiarity with community engagement and stakeholder consultation processes.
  • Knowledge of legislative processes at municipal, provincial, and federal levels in Canada.
  • Fluency in French is an asset.
