As a Rock Climbing Instructor, you will be at the forefront of our member experience. Your role will encompass leading engaging and informative climbing sessions, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere where every climber feels supported and encouraged. You’ll be responsible for demonstrating proper climbing techniques, belaying methods, and equipment usage, patiently guiding participants through drills and challenges tailored to their individual progress. Beyond direct instruction, you will play a crucial part in the operational excellence of our gym. This includes performing routine equipment checks, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of climbing areas, and providing outstanding customer service, answering questions about memberships, classes, and gear.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise rock climbing sessions for individuals and groups of varying skill levels.
- Teach fundamental to advanced climbing techniques, belaying, and lead climbing (where appropriate).
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and equipment usage guidelines.
- Conduct thorough safety briefings and equipment checks before each session.
- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to participants.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized climbing environment.
- Inspect climbing routes, holds, and equipment regularly for wear and tear, reporting any issues.
- Assist with route setting or modification as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering member inquiries and promoting gym programs.
- Administer basic first aid if necessary and activate emergency procedures.
- Stay current with best practices in climbing instruction and safety standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in rock climbing (top-rope, lead, bouldering)
- Strong understanding of climbing safety protocols and equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to instruct and motivate individuals of all ages and abilities.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Proficiency in English and French (bilingualism preferred for Montreal location).
- Demonstrated patience and an enthusiastic approach to teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- ACMG, PCGI, or equivalent internationally recognized climbing instructor certification.
- Previous experience working as a climbing instructor in a gym setting.
- Experience with youth programs or coaching.
- Knowledge of climbing gym operations and customer management systems.
- A passion for fitness, wellness, and outdoor activities.
