Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in diverse client populations.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based individualised therapy programmes.
- Deliver direct therapy to clients, both individually and in group settings, adapting interventions to meet specific needs.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, families, carers, and other professionals to ensure integrated and holistic care.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date client records in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision, team meetings, and contribute to case discussions.
- Engage in continuous professional development activities to stay current with best practices and expand clinical knowledge.
- Educate clients, families, and other professionals on communication strategies and swallowing safety.
- Contribute to service development initiatives and quality improvement projects.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology (or equivalent qualification).
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK.
- Demonstrated foundational knowledge of speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and sensitively.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
- Effective organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a varied caseload.
- Commitment to person-centred care and ethical professional practice.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous clinical placement experience with diverse client groups (e.g., paediatrics, adults, learning disabilities).
- Familiarity with various assessment tools and therapeutic interventions.
- Basic knowledge of relevant legislation and policies pertaining to speech and language therapy in the UK.
