Job Description

Based in the vibrant Yorkville district of Toronto, this pivotal full-time role will oversee the design, implementation, and interpretation of clinical trials, ensuring the highest standards of scientific rigor, ethical conduct, and regulatory compliance.

As our Medical Director, you will be instrumental in guiding the clinical development programs from conception through commercialization. This involves defining clinical strategy, developing study protocols, critically evaluating clinical data, and engaging with key opinion leaders and regulatory bodies. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic medical oversight for clinical development programs across various therapeutic areas.
  • Design and develop clinical trial protocols, study reports, and related clinical documents.
  • Serve as the primary medical expert for assigned projects, guiding cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure strict adherence to GCP, GVP, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Engage with key opinion leaders (KOLs), investigators, and regulatory authorities.
  • Monitor patient safety, assess adverse events, and contribute to pharmacovigilance activities.
  • Analyze and interpret clinical trial data, presenting findings internally and externally.
  • Contribute to scientific publications, presentations, and medical education initiatives.
  • Manage and mentor clinical team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Participate in due diligence efforts for potential new assets and business development opportunities.

Required Skills

  • Medical Doctor (MD) degree with an active license to practice.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in clinical development within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Proven leadership and management experience in a clinical setting.
  • Expertise in clinical trial design, execution, and interpretation.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, Health Canada, EMA) and GCP guidelines.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, global team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board certification in a relevant therapeutic area.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MPH, MBA) is a plus.
  • Experience with multiple therapeutic areas, especially in oncology, rare diseases, or neuroscience.
  • Prior experience with both early and late-stage clinical development.
  • Record of scientific publications and presentations.
