Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate one-on-one and group peer support sessions, appropriately sharing personal recovery experiences.
- Assist individuals in identifying personal strengths and developing wellness action plans.
- Guide and connect participants to relevant community resources and support networks.
- Advocate for service users' needs and promote self-advocacy.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records of interactions and progress.
- Actively participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
Required Skills
- Proven lived experience with mental health or addiction recovery, including a strong personal wellness journey.
- Completion of recognized Peer Support training/certification (e.g., CPSS).
- Exceptional active listening, empathetic communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish trust and maintain professional boundaries.
- Foundational understanding of recovery-oriented principles and mental health system navigation.
- Basic proficiency in digital communication and record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a peer support role within a community or non-profit setting.
- Familiarity with local Toronto mental health and social support services.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or similar de-escalation training.
- Bilingualism in a relevant language (e.g., French, Mandarin) is an asset.
