Your daily routine will involve navigating designated routes with precision, safely operating heavy machinery including various types of waste collection vehicles, and interacting professionally and courteously with community members and businesses.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently on designated routes.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Collect and dispose of various types of waste materials (residential, commercial).
- Operate hydraulic controls to lift and empty refuse containers.
- Ensure proper loading, compaction, and secure transportation of waste.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate daily route records, logs, and reporting.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, supervisors, and the public.
- Perform minor routine maintenance and cleaning of vehicles.
- Promptly report any mechanical issues, safety hazards, or incidents.
Required Skills
- Valid Class D or AZ/DZ Driver's License (or equivalent for heavy vehicles in Ontario).
- Clean driving record (Driver's Abstract required).
- Proven experience operating heavy commercial vehicles (e.g., trucks, heavy equipment).
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), push, pull, and perform strenuous tasks for extended periods.
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety, maintenance, and operational procedures.
- Excellent navigation and route management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking) for communication and record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Waste Collector or similar heavy equipment operator.
- Knowledge of Toronto streets and specific waste collection routes, particularly in Etobicoke.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Customer service experience in a public-facing role.
