Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial truck and trailer safely and efficiently over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories.
- Ensure accurate logbook entries and maintain compliance with hours of service (HOS) regulations.
- Secure cargo properly and safely, checking weights and ensuring even distribution.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, logistics team, and customers regarding delivery status and potential delays.
- Adhere to company safety protocols and maintain a clean driving record.
- Manage paperwork, including bills of lading, manifests, and fuel receipts.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 1 (or equivalent) commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement.
- Clean Commercial Driver's Abstract (CVOR and/or Driver's Abstract).
- Proven experience in long haul trucking, demonstrating reliability and safety.
- Ability to operate various types of commercial vehicles and trailers.
- Strong understanding of DOT, provincial, and federal trucking regulations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and handle cargo securement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Familiarity with cross-border operations (Canada-US).
- Certificate in defensive driving or advanced driver training.
