Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and physically fit individual to join our essential team as an Early Morning Garbage Collector in Port Moody, British Columbia. This full-time role is more than just a job; it’s a vital service that contributes directly to the health, safety, and aesthetic appeal of our vibrant community. As a Garbage Collector, you will be the backbone of our waste management operations, working diligently before the city truly awakens to ensure properties are clean and refuse is efficiently managed.
Your day will begin in the pre-dawn hours, providing a unique opportunity to work outdoors, stay active, and see the immediate impact of your efforts. You’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient collection of residential and commercial waste materials, operating as part of a highly coordinated team. This involves manually collecting waste bags and bins, operating specialized equipment such as compactor levers and hoist mechanisms, and navigating various routes across Port Moody, rain or shine. Safety is paramount at Hiring.zycto, and comprehensive training will be provided on proper lifting techniques, equipment operation, and strict adherence to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently collect residential and commercial waste materials along designated routes.
- Operate collection vehicle mechanisms, including compaction and lifting equipment, with precision and care.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of collection vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, provincial traffic laws, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, including the collection vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and the public.
- Assist with the proper disposal of collected materials at designated facilities.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability for early morning shifts.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical work repeatedly throughout an 8-12 hour shift.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and protocols.
- Reliability and punctuality, essential for early morning operations.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

- Valid Class 3 or 1 Driver's License with air brake endorsement (or willingness to obtain).
- Familiarity with Port Moody and surrounding Lower Mainland areas.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshooting.
