Job Description

This role as an Ironworker with provided training at Hiring.zycto in Corktown, Hamilton, offers a unique opportunity for motivated individuals to forge a rewarding career in the vital construction sector. You will gain hands-on experience in erecting steel frames for buildings, bridges, and other structures, learning the intricacies of steel erection, structural steel fitting, reinforcing steel installation, and the safe operation of various tools and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all provided training sessions and safety orientations.
  • Learn and apply techniques for erecting structural steel, including beams, columns, and girders.
  • Assist in the installation of reinforcing steel (rebar) in concrete forms.
  • Understand and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Learn safe rigging and hoisting procedures for moving heavy steel components.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently under supervision.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members, supervisors, and tradespeople.
  • Perform general labour duties as required to support site operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Develop skills in welding, bolting, and connecting steel components.

  • Physical fitness and ability to perform demanding manual labour, including lifting heavy objects, climbing, and working at heights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Previous experience in a construction or industrial environment (e.g., general labourer).
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • WHMIS certification.
  • Working at Heights training.
