Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking an accomplished and highly motivated Site Superintendent to lead and oversee our construction projects in the Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol area. This pivotal full-time role demands a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of construction methodologies, an unwavering commitment to safety, and a proven track record of successful project delivery from inception to completion. You will be the on-site leader, directly responsible for managing all aspects of the construction process, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

As a Site Superintendent, you will be the linchpin between project management, subcontractors, clients, and your site team. Your day-to-day will involve meticulous planning, proactive problem-solving, and decisive leadership. We are looking for someone who can not only interpret complex blueprints and specifications but also translate them into actionable plans, motivating a diverse workforce towards a common goal. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and timelines.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive site safety plans and procedures, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections.
  • Coordinate and schedule all trades and subcontractors, ensuring efficient workflow and optimal resource allocation.
  • Monitor project progress against schedule and budget, providing regular updates to Project Managers and identifying potential delays or cost overruns.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure all work meets required standards and specifications.
  • Resolve day-to-day site issues and conflicts efficiently, making informed decisions to keep the project on track.
  • Maintain accurate daily site logs, progress reports, and documentation.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage the ordering, delivery, and storage of materials and equipment.
  • Mentor and lead site personnel, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Site Superintendent or similar role in commercial or residential construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations (e.g., CDM Regulations).
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Experience with sustainable construction practices or BREEAM projects.
  • Professional membership with relevant industry bodies (e.g., CIOB).
