Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking dedicated and skilled Track Maintenance Workers for immediate hire in the Minnow Lake, Sudbury area. This is a critical role that involves maintaining the structural integrity and operational safety of railway tracks, ensuring the smooth and secure passage of trains. As a Track Maintenance Worker, you will be an integral part of our operations team, responsible for the ongoing inspection, repair, and upkeep of our rail network. Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, repair, and replace rails, ties, and other track components.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment and hand tools specific to track maintenance.
  • Perform track surfacing, lining, and gauging to ensure proper alignment and level.
  • Conduct ballast maintenance, including tamping, regulating, and adding new ballast.
  • Clear vegetation, debris, and snow from tracks and surrounding areas.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Report any defects, hazards, or unsafe conditions promptly to supervisors.
  • Participate in emergency track repairs and respond to call-outs as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other operational personnel.
  • Complete necessary documentation and reports accurately.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of experience in railway track maintenance or heavy construction.
  • Valid Class G driver's license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment such as tampers, regulators, and spike pullers.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Physical fitness to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and understanding of safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized railway track maintenance program or apprenticeship.
  • Experience with CWR (Continuous Welded Rail) maintenance techniques.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of railway signaling systems and track circuitry.
  • Ability to read and interpret track diagrams and specifications.
