Hiring.zycto is seeking dedicated and skilled Track Maintenance Workers for immediate hire in the Minnow Lake, Sudbury area. This is a critical role that involves maintaining the structural integrity and operational safety of railway tracks, ensuring the smooth and secure passage of trains. Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and replace rails, ties, and other track components.
- Operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment and hand tools specific to track maintenance.
- Perform track surfacing, lining, and gauging to ensure proper alignment and level.
- Conduct ballast maintenance, including tamping, regulating, and adding new ballast.
- Clear vegetation, debris, and snow from tracks and surrounding areas.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Report any defects, hazards, or unsafe conditions promptly to supervisors.
- Participate in emergency track repairs and respond to call-outs as required.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other operational personnel.
- Complete necessary documentation and reports accurately.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of experience in railway track maintenance or heavy construction.
- Valid Class G driver's license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as tampers, regulators, and spike pullers.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Physical fitness to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and understanding of safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized railway track maintenance program or apprenticeship.
- Experience with CWR (Continuous Welded Rail) maintenance techniques.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of railway signaling systems and track circuitry.
- Ability to read and interpret track diagrams and specifications.
