Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging lesson plans provided by the absent teacher, adapting as necessary to student needs.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Manage student behaviour effectively, adhering to school policies and procedures.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students under your supervision.
- Communicate student progress, concerns, or any critical incidents to relevant school staff.
- Adhere strictly to all school policies, safeguarding procedures, and professional conduct guidelines.
- Be punctual, prepared, and present for all assigned teaching duties.
- Adapt teaching methods and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as breaks or lunch, if required.
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification in the UK.
- Proven experience working with children and young people in an educational setting.
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour guidance skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational abilities.
- Adaptability, resilience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to follow instructions and implement school policies precisely.
- Current PVG Scheme membership (or willingness to apply for one).
- A passion for education and a commitment to student success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience across multiple key stages (e.g., Early Years, Primary, Secondary) or subject areas.
- First Aid certification or relevant safety training.
- Knowledge of specific Edinburgh educational frameworks and local authority guidelines.
- Experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or additional support needs.
