Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures (e.g., X-ray, CT) according to established protocols and physician orders.
- Position patients safely and accurately for optimal image acquisition, ensuring patient comfort and dignity.
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment, performing quality control checks and troubleshooting minor issues.
- Ensure radiation safety protocols are strictly adhered to for both patients and staff.
- Review images for quality and accuracy, making adjustments as necessary.
- Document patient information, procedures performed, and technical factors accurately in electronic health records.
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
- Assist radiologists and other medical staff during complex procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked imaging suite.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices and technology.
Required Skills
- HCPC registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience as a Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer.
- Proficiency in operating X-ray and CT imaging equipment.
- Thorough understanding of radiation safety principles and ALARA concept.
- Strong anatomical and physiological knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MRI or other advanced imaging modalities.
- Experience in a busy hospital or clinic setting.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff or students.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
