Job Description
Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Estimator Trainee to join our growing team in Toronto. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for an individual passionate about the construction industry, eager to learn the intricate art of commercial project estimation from the ground up. As a Trainee, you will work closely with our experienced Senior Estimators, gaining hands-on experience in preparing accurate and competitive bids for a variety of commercial construction projects, including residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist Senior Estimators in preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project proposals.
- Conduct quantity take-offs for various construction components (materials, labour, equipment).
- Support the solicitation and review of bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive database of material costs and subcontractor pricing.
- Participate in tender preparation, including compiling documentation and completing forms.
- Attend project site visits and pre-bid meetings to gain a deeper understanding of project scope and conditions.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers as required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
- Perform general administrative tasks to support the estimating department.
Required Skills
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documents and drawings.

Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Prior exposure to construction terminology or processes (e.g., through internships, volunteer work, or academic projects).
- Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, AccuBid) is an asset but not required.
- Valid G-class driver's license and access to a vehicle.
