Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Gymnastics Coach to join our vibrant team in Western Gap, Toronto. This is an incredible opportunity for a passionate individual to contribute to the physical and personal development of children and youth through the sport of gymnastics. As a Gymnastics Coach, you will be instrumental in creating a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment for participants of varying ages and skill levels, from beginners discovering their potential to more advanced athletes refining their techniques.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality gymnastics instruction that adheres strictly to our program curriculum and safety standards. This includes teaching fundamental gymnastics skills, proper technique, and progressive drills on various apparatus such as floor, vault, bars, and beam. Beyond skill development, a core aspect of this role involves instilling important life lessons such as discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and self-confidence. You will encourage athletes to push their boundaries in a supportive atmosphere, celebrating every achievement, big or small.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of gymnastics principles, child development, and effective coaching methodologies. You’ll need to be adept at modifying instruction to suit individual needs, ensuring that all participants feel challenged and supported. This role requires excellent communication skills to interact effectively with gymnasts, parents, and fellow coaches, providing constructive feedback and fostering a collaborative community spirit. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging gymnastics lessons for various age groups and skill levels.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by adhering to facility rules and gymnastics safety protocols.
  • Teach fundamental to advanced gymnastics skills on various apparatus (floor, vault, bars, beam).
  • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help gymnasts improve and develop confidence.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and colleagues regarding progress, goals, and program details.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and motivational learning environment.
  • Assist with equipment setup, takedown, and maintenance to ensure a safe and functional training space.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience coaching gymnastics to children and youth.
  • Strong knowledge of gymnastics techniques, spotting, and safety guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and staff.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans and adapt to different learning styles.
  • Demonstrated patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) certification in Gymnastics Foundations or higher.
  • Experience coaching in a competitive gymnastics environment.
  • Background in sports science, physical education, or a related field.
  • Ability to coach multiple gymnastics disciplines (e.g., artistic, rhythmic).
